The Rolling Stones set has been in the works for quite awhile and just about never saw the light of day because of the SACD releases. The new SACDs are great sounding and are a lot of fun to listen to. Much of the Stones' material wasn't recorded under the best of conditions.
The SACDs often smooth out the characteristic hard-edged sound and bring out some detail lost in the red line. They have a less compressed sound and really stand up on their own. In other words, they wouldn't be offered if not felt to be a worthwhile listening experience. Posted by: mariano.
