Manchester United supporters group The 1958 are planning two early season protests when the Premier League campaign kicks off next week.

The group has encouraged a 60 minute ‘Glazers Out’ sit-in following the Nottingham Forest fixture at Old Trafford as well as a separate protest ahead of the top flight opener against Wolves on Monday, August 14.

Last season, the fans organised several protests against the ownership which included marches to the stadium from several locations across Manchester. During pre-season, some supporters protested outside the Old Trafford Megastore on the day of the United home shirt kit launch to make their point to the boardroom.

In November, the Glazers announced they were exploring ‘strategic alternatives’ to the United ownership model. However, progress appears to have stalled with the takeover saga still ongoing.

The 1958 have previously made it clear that protests will not end until the Glazer family has left the club entirely and fresh plans have been announced for the first two home matches.

On Monday week , The 1958 are encouraging United fans to meet at the Holy Trinity statue outside Old Trafford at 6:30pm to protest against the ownership. For the following home clash with Forest on Saturday, August 26, the group will take their action a step further.

Following the full-time whistle against the East Midlands club, The 1958 is asking fans to stay inside the stadium for an hour to protest against the Glazers. In an appeal to supporters on a recent Twitter Spaces, a spokesperson for the group said: “We have to give it a go. It is only going to be successful if match going Manchester United fans join us and stay for the sit-in. We have got a load of leaflets to give out to the matchgoers at Wolves and then we are going to promote it further in the run-up to Forest.

“We want to chant, make a statement and we want a resolution. We want to know what is going on with our club and we want to know if they are going to sell. We want them to sell.

“18 years of ignorance, 18 years they have said nothing to us. 18 years they have lied to us and 18 years they have destroyed our club.”
