  • It’s cleaner, less polluted, less crowded than Jakarta. Many trees make the city more beautiful. Great food. Some really beautiful mosques! I learned about the improvements that have been made to the city in the last 20 years… some great initiatives! Not a ton to do, but ok for a short stay, and hard to find information about local activities. Grab is good in this city. I would not recommend for solo female travelers…. I’ve lived in Asia for 10 years and never had to deal with so much harassment from men… yikes and yuck. The consistency of this issue is alarming.


  • Like all Indonesian cities it sprawls. Long distances to travel between everything. Surabaya is a commercial centre. I come here to replenish food and clothes and anything I cannot get living in the rural areas.


  • Surabaya is a busy place and I didnt get to see as much as i would like on this trip. The large malls are amazing , full of goods from all over the world as well as many local produce. The walkways are clean and well kept and the atmosphere in all the ones i visited was relaxed. The food halls offer a plethora of choice and there is something for every taste. I used grab taxi to get around but there are also the motorcycle taxi for the not so faint at heart. Hire for a half day or full day is cheap and you can then visit places around the city like Kakek Bodoh for a pleasant walk through the jungle paths to the beautiful waterfalls, where you can spend some time taking in the sounds of monkeys in the tall trees and the ear splitting cicadas lol. Also a visit to the hot springs that abound around this area is a must for a relaxing session to fill your afternoon. Local information is available from google etc. Coffee shops and cafes are places to enjoy and relax and there are plenty to choose from, I try to visit as many as I can. I am planning to visit Indonesia in the spring and Surabaya is definetly on my to visit again list


  • the area we always stay in in Surabaya revolves around the Jalan Tunjungan historical section of the city. it has shopping,restaurants,historical events, musuems, monuments etc. and the well known six huge malls of Tunjungan Plaza.


  • My love for Surabaya is always the FOOD! Do try Tahu Tek Pak Jayen, Soto Madura Tampak Siring, Layar restaurant. Everything is in Manyar area! For more authentic food, you can also try Sate Kelopo in Jalan Ondemohen. Another one is Zangrandi ice cream. It’s a must try!


  • Surabaya has a lot better situation now compared to 4 or 5 years ago. It has everything that traveler or business needs. Traveling to Surabaya is like a complete journey where you can find everything you need. Wanna go back to Surabaya next time.


  • Rooms are tucked away in a massive new mall (mall includes a big food court) and are very modern and clean, with a spectacular view over the city. It was great for one night to catch our flight in Surabaya. It’s pretty close to the main toll road to the airport. No reception desk, but very responsive owner via WhatsApp (in English), who sent friendly staff to help us to our room. Good Wifi.

  • Location was superb with ease of access to the Tunjungan Plaza (With a convenient lift access at level 6). The gym was sufficiently equipped with the essential items and the room was fabulous! The bed and shower facilities were up to our expectations of an hotel of Sheraton. Would visit Four Points again when in Surabaya!

  • Beautiful Majapahit style hotel. Very luxurious surroundings and reception. Lovely restaurants and a stunning breakfast outdoor area offering a wide variety of Indonesian food. Wonderful staff: friendly, helpful and professional. Excellent view of the city from our room! Cosy room and nice toiletries.

  • The hotel is near by downtown, clean, but they put water dispenser in front of elevator. Could be for go green. But for me, it was not comfortable. Better put water in bottle in the room, because usually I don’t going out after I check in and relax at my hotel room. Over all it’s worthy price.

  • This hotel is really value for money. With the price and the facilities etc I would definitely come back here. The location is perfect as well right in the downtown area of Surabaya. Staffs are friendly and polite. Room is spacious and has all the things I need. My stay was perfect!

  • Its an old hotel, but clean. The staff are accommodating and kind. Its located in the city center, next to Delta Plaza. Will be convenient for business stay that needs to move around the city. There is a cute cafe and little eateries in front of the hotel.
