West Ham United could have to pay £60 million to complete a double deal involving Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.

According to Football Insider, West Ham United were reportedly told to pay a combined fee of £60 million to sign Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. Manchester United are willing to let the duo leave for the right offer, which could instead fund their transfers before the window shuts.

West Ham United remains the only Premier League club not to make a single signing this summer. The Hammers loaded with the Declan Rice sale, but they have faced disappointments in pursuing multiple targets so far.

They have inched closer to bringing Edson Alvarez from Ajax after lodging a sizeable bid for the Mexican midfielder. The 25-year-old alone won’t suffice to replace Rice, as David Moyes seeks a known player alongside the Ajax man.

While there have been some disharmony in the background with new sporting director Tim Steidten, who wants to bring younger players with more future value. Moyes remains keen to get experienced heads like Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay to this team.

They have seen a verbal offer rejected for McTominay, as Manchester United demanded a high fee for the Scotsman. The Hammers were reportedly told to pay £60 million in combined fees to conclude a double deal for the duo.

Like McTominay, Manchester United rejected a bid from West Ham for Maguire. The Red Devils will let the duo leave for the right price and then use the funds to bring in new players. Erik ten Hag may look for a new midfielder and defender, ideally to replace them both.

Both those players could prove essential parts by Moyes ahead of the season. There’s a sense of urgency to sign reinforcements to negate some of the weaknesses in the squad. Whether the manager resolves those issues with his sporting director remains the question, as they must do so for harmony.

Meanwhile, the big questions would circle whether Maguire and McTominay want to join this West Ham side. The Hammers have plenty of games in the upcoming season, including a journey in the Europa League.
